About the role
World Renew is seeking volunteer translators to support its Refugee Sponsorship and Resettlement Program. Volunteers will provide interpretation during virtual newcomer monitoring interviews, helping refugees communicate with staff.
Key responsibilities
- Provide verbal interpretation during virtual monitoring interviews.
- Assist with communication between newcomers and World Renew staff.
- Review interview materials and ensure culturally respectful communication.
- Coordinate scheduling and availability with staff.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all information shared.
Required profile
- Fluent in English and at least one priority language (Arabic, Farsi, Dari, Pashto, Tigrinya, Spanish, Swahili, French, etc.).
- Reliable internet access, computer, and private space for virtual meetings.
- Ability to respond to requests promptly.
- Respect for cultural, religious, and linguistic diversity.
- Experience with newcomers or refugee communities is an asset.
Required skills
- Strong listening and communication abilities.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Teams or similar virtual meeting platforms.
