Weekend Evening Service Worker

About the role

The University of British Columbia is seeking reliable individuals to join its Custodial Services team for weekend evening shifts. Workers will maintain cleanliness and safety across campus facilities during evenings and weekends.

Key responsibilities

• Dust, sweep, mop, vacuum, strip, wax, polish, shampoo, disinfect and scrub floors, walls, fixtures, furniture and appliances.
• Operate light or heavy‑duty hand and power‑driven cleaning equipment as required.
• Maintain and replenish cleaning supplies, soap, toilet paper and paper towels.
• Clean interior and exterior windows, glass surfaces, shades and Venetian blinds.
• Sweep sidewalks, clear snow when needed, and collect garbage and waste.
• Set up and rearrange furniture and equipment for university events and examinations.
• Report maintenance issues, security concerns and assist in emergency evacuations.

Required profile

• Willingness to respect diverse perspectives and a commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.
• Completion of Grade 10 with at least one year of relevant custodial experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to follow instructions, work independently and prioritize tasks to meet operational deadlines.
• Effective communication skills for interaction with managers, supervisors and peers.
• General knowledge of custodial rules, security and safety policies.
