Registered Nurse – Operating Room

About the role

The Registered Nurse – Operating Room provides professional nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures at St. Boniface Hospital. Working under the general supervision of the Manager of Health Services, the RN delivers independent nursing services, administers prescribed treatments, and leads the peri‑operative care team.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to patients in the operating room, including complex and unpredictable cases.
• Administer prescribed medical treatments and monitor invasive pressure devices.
• Coordinate patient care, discharge planning, and documentation.
• Serve as a clinical leader within the surgical team, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
• Participate in standby coverage for days, evenings, weekends, and as required.

Required profile

• Recent operating‑room nursing experience (mandatory).
• Invasive pressure monitoring experience (preferred).
• Current peri‑operative nursing experience preferred.
• Successful completion of the AORN Periop 101 online course or equivalent training (must be completed within three months of hire).
• Graduate of an approved Registered Nursing program.
• WCCNEP EKG course and conscious sedation training are advantageous.
