About the role
The Manitoba Quality Assurance Program (MANQAP) is seeking an Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) Accreditation Inspector to inspect non‑hospital medical and surgical facilities, laboratories, transfusion medicine and diagnostic imaging sites across Manitoba. Reporting to the Director of MANQAP, the inspector will evaluate compliance with provincial IPAC policies, CPSM by‑law standards and College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba regulations.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare for inspections by completing required documentation and reviewing facility records.
- Monitor and evaluate each site’s adherence to provincial and regional IPAC policies, procedures and operational directives.
- Provide IPAC guidance on routine practices, sterilization, disinfection and cleaning processes.
- Complete detailed inspection reports and submit them to the Program Review Committee.
- Follow up with facilities on progress, remediation actions and final outcomes.
- Review facility requests for new procedures or sedation and ensure appropriate IPAC considerations.
- Prepare documentation for quarterly MANQAP Program Review Committee meetings and annual program reviews.
- Develop and incorporate training components, checklists and inspection tools for new programs.
- Support onboarding of qualified inspector consultants and assist in the development of additional inspection programs.
Required profile
- Post‑secondary education in nursing or an allied health field with a focus on IPAC, microbiology, epidemiology or public health.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in infection control and quality environments, including at least 5 years in a clinical health setting (surgical operating room experience preferred).
- Current registration in good standing with a professional licensing body.
- Current CIC® (Certification in Infection Control).
- Willingness and ability to travel overnight throughout Manitoba for inspections and attend conferences outside the province.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence and ability to pass a satisfactory criminal record check.
