Project Manager - Customer Projects

About the role

AltaLink's Operations - Project Development team is hiring a Project Manager to lead, manage and develop customer projects from initial request through permitting with the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC). The role leads a team of internal and external experts covering customer service, engineering, siting, land, environment, consultation and communication, operations, asset management and regulatory matters, and acts as a key interface with Connecting Customers and the AESO. It is a full-time permanent position based in the Calgary office, reporting to the Manager, Project Development.

Key responsibilities

• Lead projects from concept to AUC decision in a matrix organization, building and managing project teams
• Represent AltaLink with the AESO and customers, meeting project deliverables and exceeding their expectations
• Manage project cost, compliance, quality, scope and schedule
• Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies
• Prepare connection proposals, service proposals and facility applications
• Lead the AUC permitting process, including responding to Information Requests and assisting in regulatory proceedings
• Report project status, costs, schedule, changes and risks to the AESO, customers and management
• Manage AltaLink's relationship with the AESO, customers, stakeholders and the public
• Lead external consultants and contractors on design, engineering and estimates, and transition projects to the Delivery Team

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, qualified for Professional Engineer registration with APEGA
• At least 4 years of proven project management experience
• Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams in a matrix organization and managing EPC contractors and external consultants
• Commitment to integrity, teamwork and safety
• Proven track record of good attendance and performance
• Driver's licence required; some site travel
