About the role
This temporary teaching assignment is for the Focus Week Workshop 2, a one‑credit course offered during the Fall 2026 Focus Week at McGill University's Faculty of Law. The instructor will introduce students to procedural law and advocacy before major international courts and tribunals.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver four daily sessions (Monday‑Thursday, 14:35‑17:25) covering sources, jurisdiction, admissibility, burden of proof, evidence, and interpretation.
- Integrate case law from the International Court of Justice, International Tribunal on the Law of the Sea, and the Permanent Court of Arbitration into lectures and practical exercises.
- Facilitate doctrinal analysis and practical application, guiding students in constructing and presenting legal arguments.
- Assess student performance through assignments, participation, and examinations.
Required profile
- First degree in law (LL.B., J.D., or equivalent).
- Several years of significant professional practice or experience in international procedural law.
- Prior experience teaching undergraduate law students in a bilingual (English/French) environment.
- Eligibility to be allocated to the position under article 15.03.03 of the MCLIU collective agreement.
