About the role

The Federation of Law Societies of Canada is seeking a Chief Executive Officer to lead the organization through a period of renewal, overseeing governance, strategy, and operational excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the national organization at the intersection of regulation, public policy, government relations, and professional leadership.
• Shape the Federation’s future direction, governance structures, and strategic plan.
• Maintain the Federation as an indispensable resource for member law societies amid technological disruption and regulatory complexity.
• Engage with regulators, governments, boards, and legal professionals while providing strong operational leadership.

Required profile

• Proven executive leadership experience with strategic and governance expertise.
• Exceptional relationship‑building and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Ability to navigate complex, consensus‑driven environments and build national relationships.
• Fluency in both English and French, capable of leading and representing the Federation in both official languages.

Required skills

• Bilingual communication (English and French).
