External Audit Manager (Bilingual FR/EN)

About the role

PwC Canada is looking for an External Audit Manager in Quebec City, a bilingual (French and English) manager in its Assurance line of service. You will lead client-facing teams and deliver assurance services and business advice to clients ranging from small, fast-growing companies to large, internationally known brands, using technology to reduce manual testing and strengthen corporate governance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead client-facing teams and deliver high-quality client service and operational efficiency
• Examine financial and accounting records and documents, observe processes, and ask formal and informal questions of senior client personnel
• Resolve conflicts and manage stakeholder expectations, both inside and outside the firm
• Walk through designs of internal controls and test their operational effectiveness
• Make judgments on testing approaches for significant accounting estimates
• Verify and test financial statements and supporting disclosures
• Coach and mentor staff, instruct milestone training courses, and prepare and deliver competitive audit proposals
• Develop expertise in audit and assurance through reports, presentations and high-quality deliverables

Required profile

• Demonstrated progressive experience at manager level with external audit clients in a professional services firm
• Qualified Canadian CPA or equivalent reciprocal/recognized designation
• Fluency in English and French
• Excellent project management and communication skills, able to multitask in a fast-paced environment

Required skills

• Excellent understanding of Canadian auditing standards; knowledge of US auditing standards and/or PCAOB is considered
• Knowledge of IFRS and ASPE, US GAAP is an asset
• Technical skills in accounting reporting and auditing standards, and in designing engagement procedures based on risk and materiality
• Previous experience coaching and directing engagement teams

The salary range is $68,600 - $114,400, depending on skills, experience, qualifications and location. Eligible employees may also take part in variable incentive pay programs. The position follows the departure of a valued team member and offers a hybrid work environment.
