Assistant Controller

About the role

Techo-Bloc, a manufacturer of building materials with facilities across Canada and the U.S., is looking for an Assistant Controller in Saint-Hubert. The role works alongside the Controller and operations leaders to turn numbers into decisions, with a clear path toward a Controller or Analyst position.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze inventory, sales, costs, margins and variances across plants and distribution centers, and share insights in monthly meetings with operations managers.
• Help prepare monthly and annual financial statements, lead account reconciliations, manage fixed assets and prepaids, and support the year-end audit.
• Work with department leaders to build the annual budget, validate forecasts and track assumptions and variances.
• Test and refine reports, automate manual work and help shape how finance uses Microsoft D365.
• Collaborate with finance, operations and administrative teams on cross-functional projects.

Required profile

• CPA designation and a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
• 3+ years of accounting experience, including at least 3 years in cost control, budgeting, forecasting and process improvement; manufacturing experience is a strong asset.
• Bilingualism in French and English, with strong written and spoken English for U.S. operations.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel (pivot tables, complex formulas, Power Query).
• ERP experience such as D365, Microsoft AX or SAP.
• A sharp eye for detail and the ability to explain financial results clearly to non-finance people.
