Assistant Professor (Clinical) – Respiratory Medicine

About the role

The Department of Medicine at McGill University seeks a full‑time Assistant Professor (Clinical) to join the Division of Respiratory Medicine at the Jewish General Hospital. The position is a Contract Academic Staff appointment focused on clinical teaching and, optionally, education research.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality didactic and bedside teaching to medical students, residents and fellows.
• Provide clinical care to patients with complex pulmonary disorders in a teaching hospital setting.
• Participate in curriculum development and educational program improvement.
• Contribute to scholarly activities, including education research or peer‑reviewed publications (for Clinician‑Educator track).
• Engage in departmental service, quality improvement initiatives, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Required profile

• Medical degree with board certification or eligibility in Respiratory Medicine.
• Demonstrated commitment to academic medicine and teaching.
• Experience in a clinical academic environment is preferred.
• Ability to balance clinical duties with educational responsibilities.

Required skills

• Clinical expertise in airway diseases, COPD, asthma, pulmonary hypertension, interventional pulmonology and related specialties.
• Proficiency in delivering both classroom and bedside instruction.
• Strong communication skills for teaching and mentorship.
