Assistant/Associate Professor (Clinical) in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation

About the role

The Department of Medicine at McGill University seeks a full‑time Contract Academic Staff member to join the Division of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. The successful candidate will provide clinical care, teach medical trainees, and contribute to academic and service initiatives at the Lethbridge‑Layton‑Mackay Rehabilitation Centre.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver clinical consultations, comprehensive functional assessments, diagnosis, treatment planning and longitudinal follow‑up for patients with complex neurological and musculoskeletal rehabilitation needs.
• Teach medical students, residents and fellows through both didactic sessions and bedside supervision.
• Lead or support quality‑improvement projects, program development, clinical pathway design and evaluation of rehabilitation services.
• Participate in research, supervise trainees, and serve on departmental and university committees.
• Integrate tele‑rehabilitation and virtual‑care approaches where appropriate.

Required profile

• MD degree with completed specialty training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
• Certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (or equivalent) and eligibility for Quebec licensure.
• At least one additional year of specialty clinical training in neurological rehabilitation.
• Bilingual proficiency in French and English preferred, or a commitment to acquire the necessary language skills.

Required skills

• Spasticity assessment and management, including injection therapies.
• Ultrasound‑guided and other image‑guided peripheral joint injections.
• Prescription of orthoses, assistive devices and adaptive equipment.
• Tele‑rehabilitation and virtual‑care integration.
