Research Assistant – Sociology Project (Part-time)

About the role

This part‑time position supports a funded research project on women’s reproductive and mental health, using established protocols and minimal supervision from the principal investigator.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct and manage the research project according to funded protocols.
• Develop and execute questionnaires, recruit and train interviewers, and oversee data collection.
• Administer the EPDS test, conduct qualitative interviews, and prepare research documentation.
• Analyze and interpret data, write reports, and prepare conference presentations and articles.
• Provide technical guidance and training to junior research staff and student assistants.
• Handle administrative tasks such as budgeting, communications, and ethics board requests.
• Coordinate and report on an SSHRC grant to the principal investigator.
• Recommend and implement improvements to interview methods and organize lab meetings.

Required profile

• Master’s degree (sociology preferred) and experience as a research coordinator.
• Excellent written and spoken French (level 4) and intermediate English (level 2).
• Strong organizational, logistical, and leadership abilities with the capacity to work autonomously.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Experience with Claude AI, Distiller‑SR, and Zoom for data collection and analysis.

What we offer

• Hourly wage of $34.56 CAD.
• Part‑time schedule (25 hours/week) on a fixed‑term contract (Sep 2026 – Aug 2027).
