Human Resources Generalist

About the role

We are supporting a growing Canadian engineering and telecommunications organization that needs an experienced Human Resources Generalist. This hands‑on role will partner with employees and managers across the business, providing advice on employee relations, performance management, benefits, compliance and engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Advise employees and managers on employee‑relations and workplace matters.
• Support performance‑management processes and coach managers through difficult conversations.
• Conduct fair, confidential investigations and document findings.
• Manage benefits, disability cases and complex leave situations, including STD, LTD and workers’ compensation.
• Interpret, update and communicate HR policies, procedures and employee handbooks.
• Assist with health‑and‑safety, wellness, learning and employee‑engagement initiatives.
• Monitor legislative changes and ensure compliance.
• Analyze HR metrics such as turnover, engagement and workforce demographics.
• Provide support for recruitment and selection activities when needed.

Required profile

• 3‑6 years of progressive HR experience across multiple functional areas.
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of Canadian employment standards, human‑rights and occupational health‑and‑safety legislation.
• Experience with employee‑relations, performance‑management and workplace investigations.
• Understanding of benefits, disability management and leave processes.
• Ability to interpret policies, analyse HR data and make practical recommendations.
• Completed or in‑progress CPHR designation or other relevant HR certification is an asset.
