Environmental Inspector

About the role

The Environmental Inspector supports the Environmental Compliance Officer by ensuring that all construction activities comply with the Environmental Management System (EMS), relevant Environmental Management Plans, and applicable legislation. This position works directly on active construction sites, collaborating with construction crews, office staff, and clients to protect the environment.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect construction work to verify compliance with the EMS, Environmental Management Plans, and legal requirements.
• Document findings, complete monitoring and inspection reports, and upload them to the designated storage location.
• Identify environmental deficiencies, recommend corrective actions, and help prevent potential impacts.
• Investigate environmental incidents and public complaints, providing clear reports and recommendations.
• Communicate findings and recommendations to the construction, design, and environmental teams.
• Attend weekly and monthly meetings with Environmental, Design, and Construction teams.
• Support third‑party environmental vendors on site as needed.
• Supervise, coordinate, and report spills and remedial activities, and deliver on‑site environmental awareness training.

Required profile

• Strong judgment and experience in environmental monitoring on construction sites.
• Ability to work collaboratively with construction personnel, office staff, and clients.
• Proactive approach to identifying and addressing environmental issues.
• Effective communication skills for reporting and training.
• Willingness to travel to and work on multiple active construction sites.

Required skills

• Familiarity with Environmental Management Systems (EMS) and related documentation.
