Senior Accountant

About the role

Our client, a large global insurance company, is looking for a Senior Accountant to lead the preparation and presentation of management results, client profitability analysis, and the timely financial close for North American legal entities. The role is hybrid, with three days per week in a downtown Toronto office.

Key responsibilities

• Manage reinsurance accounting, premiums, commissions and cash‑flow processes.
• Perform client data reconciliations, resolve reporting issues and produce profit‑commission reports.
• Maintain and test accounting controls, track KPIs and recommend process improvements.
• Design and document accounting and reporting processes for new contracts.
• Produce business‑line and quarterly management reports, coordinating with Pricing, Claims, Actuarial, Operations and IT.
• Lead user testing for accounting system upgrades and support automation initiatives.
• Contribute to special projects implementing new reporting and analytics tools.

Required profile

• 6‑8 years of relevant industry experience; insurance accounting is a plus.
• University degree in Finance/Business with an Accounting focus and CPA designation.
• Knowledge of IFRS 9 and IFRS 17 is highly valued.
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Access, Word, Outlook).
• Experience with Oracle Fusion, Power BI and SQL is an asset.
• Strong analytical abilities, ability to meet tight deadlines and work collaboratively.

What we offer

• Hybrid work model (3 days onsite in downtown Toronto).
• Base salary $90,000‑$108,000 CAD plus a 5% bonus.
