Tax Manager, Asset Management

About the role

KPMG Canada is seeking a Tax Manager to lead large‑scale engagements for asset‑management clients. You will guide teams, ensure high‑quality deliverables, and act as a trusted advisor throughout the investment fund tax life‑cycle.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage sizable client engagements in the asset‑management sector.
• Review junior staff work for accuracy and completeness.
• Provide technical support, coaching, and mentorship to junior professionals.
• Utilise proprietary technology platforms for operational and regulatory tax reporting, including Canadian fund distributions, annual compliance, and US PFIC reporting.
• Engage directly with clients, building strong relationships as part of their extended team.
• Plan engagements, organise teams, and deliver on tax mandates across the fund’s tax life‑cycle.

Required profile

• Minimum four years of experience in a public accounting tax practice or fund industry.
• Interest or understanding of tax issues in asset management.
• Proven leadership and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities, forecast challenges, and negotiate solutions.
• Strong client‑service orientation and dedication to high professional standards.
• Enrollment or interest in the CPA Canada In‑Depth Tax Program; CPA/CA designation is an asset.
