Winter Co-op 2027 - ALM Data Management & Analytics

About the role

Manulife is hiring a winter co-op student for 2027 in its ALM Data Management & Analytics team in Toronto. The role combines data and analytics technologies, including AI and automated processing tools, with financial markets. It is an existing vacancy, and the working arrangement is hybrid.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in Finance and Computer Science (double degree or combined program preferred), Financial Engineering, Mathematical Finance, Risk Management, Quantitative Finance, Computer Science with an interest in financial markets, or Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated interest in both financial markets and technology.
• Basic understanding of fixed income securities, interest rates and yield curves, investment management, financial markets and products, and risk management concepts.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work with large and complex datasets.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team.

Required skills

• Basic programming skills, preferably in Python.
• Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
• Preferred: coursework or projects combining finance and technology, Python libraries for data analysis (e.g. Pandas, NumPy), database or data engineering tools, data visualization tools, exposure to AI, machine learning, LLMs or generative AI, familiarity with Git and version control, and experience building analytical or automation solutions.
