About the role
The Undergraduate Nurse Employee (UNE) position offers nursing students a chance to apply classroom knowledge in a real‑world setting within the U2 Geri‑MH unit at Victoria General Hospital. Working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN), the UNE contributes to patient‑centred care while developing competencies required for RN or RPN practice.
Key responsibilities
- Provide safe, supervised nursing care to adult and child patients.
- Follow legislation, regulatory standards, and employer policies governing nursing activities.
- Seek consultation and guidance from supervising RN/RPN as needed.
- Document patient care accurately and maintain confidentiality.
Required profile
- Current enrollment in an approved nursing program leading to RN or RPN registration.
- Successful completion of the third year of study or enrollment in the third year with at least 450 clinical practice hours.
- Completion of a clinical placement in a medical/surgical or mental health setting.
