About the role

The University of Saskatchewan’s College of Dentistry invites applications for a full‑time, tenure‑track Assistant Professor who will hold a Tier II Canada Research Chair in Precision Oral and Systemic Microbiome – Host Interactions. The successful candidate will lead an innovative research programme aimed at understanding how the oral microbiome influences oral diseases and systemic health.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and lead an externally funded research agenda on oral‑systemic microbiome interactions.
  • Supervise graduate students, post‑doctoral fellows and undergraduate researchers.
  • Publish findings in high‑impact peer‑reviewed journals.
  • Secure national and international research grants.
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in dentistry and related fields.
  • Foster interdisciplinary collaborations within and beyond the university.

Required profile

  • DDS/DMD (or foreign equivalent) combined with a doctoral degree and post‑doctoral training in a relevant discipline.
  • Demonstrated track record in oral, dental or craniofacial microbiome research, including successful grant acquisition.
  • Evidence of high‑quality publications in reputable journals.
  • Commitment to interdisciplinary teamwork and mentorship of students.
  • Leadership experience that enhances the research environment.
  • Active researcher for fewer than 10 years at the time of nomination (or eligible through CRC justification).
