Temporary Itinerant Student Resource Teacher – Indigenous Education (Grades 9‑12)

About the role

The Itinerant Student Resource Teacher (Grades 9‑12) provides individual, classroom and school‑level support to improve student achievement within the Halton District School Board. Reporting to the System Principal of Indigenous Education, the role collaborates with school teams and the Indigenous Education Lead.

Key responsibilities

• Communicate regularly with school core teams to coordinate timely academic interventions.
• Co‑develop instructional strategies that support student engagement and Indigenous curriculum integration.
• Maintain confidential, detailed progress notes and track observations to inform system improvements.
• Build relationships with students, families, and Indigenous communities while supporting multi‑disciplinary teams.

Required profile

• Ontario College of Teachers' Certificate of Qualification in good standing.
• Special Education Part 1 qualifications; Intermediate or Senior English/Math qualifications preferred.
• Lived experience or work experience with Indigenous communities is preferred.
• Knowledge of the Primary/Junior Curriculum scope and sequence.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Aspen software.
• Experience using g‑tools and various presentation platforms.
• Effective use of technology‑enhanced learning to support student achievement.
