Night School International Language Teacher (Arabic / German)

About the role

The Halton District School Board's Continuing Education unit is looking for qualified applicants to supervise, teach and evaluate students in night school secondary credit language classes. Two positions are available: a full-year Arabic class teacher and a supply teacher for German, both at Abbey Park High School.

Key responsibilities

• Teach and supervise students in night school secondary credit language courses.
• Evaluate students in the language courses.
• Classes run Wednesday evenings from 6:30pm to 9:30pm, excluding Winter and March breaks, until May 5th, 2027.

Required profile

• For the Arabic position: full-year language class teacher.
• For the German position: supply teacher.
• Preferred: senior teaching qualifications in the language of interest.
• If no senior language qualifications, OCT teaching qualifications (any level or subject) are required, plus language fluency and/or experience teaching one of the listed courses.
• Elementary qualified applicants with strong language knowledge and experience are encouraged to apply, though preference goes to secondary teaching qualified applicants.

What we offer

• Pay of $61.50 per hour, including vacation and statutory holiday pay.
• All positions are subject to Board budget approval and enrollment.
