Emergency Supply Teacher - Elementary French

About the role

The Halton District School Board (HDSB) is seeking Emergency Supply Teachers to cover the short-term absence of OCT-certified Elementary French teachers (Core French / French Immersion) across its elementary schools in the Halton Region (Burlington, Halton Hills, Oakville, Milton). Teachers are notified on the day of the vacancy if no HDSB-certified teacher is available, and the work schedule is 10 months per year, as required.

Required profile

• Currently registered and completing the final year of a Bachelor of Education, Master of Education or concurrent education program leading to OCT certification, or awaiting certification by the Ontario College of Teachers.
• Working towards FSL Part 1 (or equivalent) certification, or enrolling in it after graduation.
• Proficiency in spoken and written French.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English, since the Board is an English board.

Applications are submitted through the Board's online application system (no fee); short-listed applicants take a digital interview assessing French and English proficiency, and may then attend a virtual live interview. Appointments are conditional on a recent criminal background check, agreement to the Board's policies and code of conduct, and successful completion of a probationary period. First consideration goes to applicants from the employee group of the vacancy, and the Board values applicants' additional experience, lived experience and skills.
