Supervisor, Fund Accountant - Private Equity

About the role

MUFG Investor Services is hiring a Junior Associate Director (Supervisor) in Toronto to oversee fund administration services for private market clients, with a focus on private equity structures. The role maintains accurate books and records, prepares financial and investor reporting, reviews the work of associate-level staff and mentors them, and acts as a primary point of contact for clients, auditors and internal teams.

Key responsibilities

• Review financial data from private equity clients and load it into internal accounting systems
• Assist with setting up, preparing and reviewing consolidations through the investment structure using various consolidation rules
• Process payment of fund expenses in the applicable banking system
• Book journal entries for cash payments and accruals
• Prepare third-party reconciliations of investments and cash
• Prepare capital call and distribution calculations and notices
• Prepare fee schedules, including management fees and carried interest, in line with fund documents
• Prepare investor allocations for each NAV cycle so that capital transactions and P&L are booked correctly
• Prepare NAV packages and other ad hoc deliverables defined in the service level agreements
• Collaborate with clients, banks, auditors and other third parties to ensure timely delivery

Required profile

• Post-secondary education or university degree with a concentration in finance or accounting
• Some years of experience in fund administration, including managing staff such as administrators, investment managers or fund auditors
• In-depth understanding of fund administration, including fund structures, fee calculations, financial instruments and fund offering documentation
• Professional accounting designation (CPA, ACCA or equivalent) preferred or in progress

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
• Experience with fund accounting software (Geneva, Investran or Yardi) is an asset
• Working knowledge of Bloomberg is beneficial but not necessary
