Substitute Teacher for Grades 10-12 (Adult Education)

About the role

The High School Teacher delivers high‑quality instruction to Grade 10‑12 students, supporting academic achievement, graduation requirements, and future pathways. The role integrates culturally responsive practices and Cree worldview perspectives where appropriate.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver instruction aligned with Alberta Education curriculum, using project‑based, discussion, inquiry and collaborative approaches.
• Assess student learning through formative and summative methods, maintain accurate records, and provide timely feedback.
• Foster a safe, respectful learning environment, support student wellbeing, and collaborate with student services when additional support is needed.
• Work collaboratively with staff, participate in meetings, professional development, and contribute to school initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) or equivalent.
• Valid Alberta Interim or Permanent Professional Teaching Certificate and recent TQS evaluation.
• Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerability Sector and Child Welfare Intervention Check.
• Experience teaching high‑school courses aligned with Alberta curriculum and working with Indigenous students is preferred.

Required skills

• Ability to adapt instruction for diverse learners and inclusive classroom practices.
• Strong written and verbal communication, cultural awareness, and conflict‑resolution skills.
