OHS Training Department Manager

About the role

4S Consulting Inc., an occupational health and safety advisory firm offering consulting, training and an online management system, is looking for an OHS Training Department Manager. Reporting to the Senior Director, the manager leads and expands the training function, designs and delivers training programs, and oversees the training profit and loss. It is an in-person role based in the office, with possible travel across Ontario.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the training function and its team, and build a deep understanding of the business's training delivery model
• Develop and implement a strategic training growth plan and an annual and three-year delivery plan with leadership
• Identify market demand for OHS training and turn it into profitable training solutions
• Design, improve and scale training programs, including online and digital ones, and build a training production practice with an LMS
• Manage the training department's P&L and set up client follow-up, upselling and retention methods
• Use a CRM system to track leads and client engagement, and pursue business development and cross-selling with the Consulting and Systems teams
• Recruit, train and/or contract resources, and lead weekly leadership meetings

Required profile

• Post-secondary education in OHS, adult education, business administration or a related field; equivalent education and experience may be considered
• Minimum 5-10 years of progressive experience in training, learning and development or OHS roles, with leadership or management responsibility
• Experience developing, delivering and scaling training programs, preferably in OHS, compliance or regulated environments
• Experience managing budgets and full P&L accountability, and leading teams including hiring, coaching and contracting external resources
• Experience in a consulting or professional services environment is an asset

Required skills

• Strong understanding of OHS legislation, standards and best practices
• CRM and Learning Management System experience
• Ability to develop annual and multi-year operational and strategic plans
• Excellent communication, presentation and stakeholder engagement skills
