Special Events Porter – Food & Beverage (Part‑Time)

About the role

The Art Gallery of Ontario is seeking an occasional part‑time Special Events Porter to join its Food & Beverage team. Working under the direction of the Manager, Events Operations & Services, you will help set up and break down a variety of events, ensuring smooth operations for visitors and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with event set‑ups, including room layout, staging, bar setups, tables, chairs, signage and ancillary equipment.
• Support back‑of‑house service areas such as placement of hot boxes, cleaning the banquet storeroom, general housekeeping and garbage removal.
• Receive and handle event supplier deliveries as directed.
• Perform other duties and projects assigned by the manager.

Required profile

• Prior experience setting up events in a similar hospitality or event operation.
• Working knowledge of hospitality practices and procedures.
• Familiarity with quality event equipment in a secure institutional environment (preferred).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Required skills

• Event set‑up and breakdown techniques.
• Basic knowledge of food‑and‑beverage service areas.
