Senior Tax Specialist / Tax Manager (6‑month contract)

About the role

Insight Global is seeking a Senior Tax Specialist / Tax Manager on a six‑month contract to join the Tax Services team of a leading financial institution in Toronto. The role focuses on preparing and reviewing complex personal, estate and trust tax returns while providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review complex tax returns, including T1 Personal, T1 Terminal (Final), T3 Trust and Estate, Graduated Rate Estates (GREs) and Rights or Things returns.
• Identify tax planning opportunities and ensure all compliance obligations are met.
• Review assessments, prepare adjustments, objections and clearance certificate requests.
• Conduct tax research and deliver technical advice on estate and trust taxation matters.
• Liaise with internal stakeholders, tax professionals and trust services teams to meet filing deadlines.
• Mentor, review and support junior team members.
• Assist with workflow management, process‑improvement initiatives and special projects.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience in accounting, tax, estate or trust taxation.
• Post‑secondary degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Leadership or mentorship experience supporting junior staff.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience preparing T1 Personal, T1 Terminal and T3 Trust & Estate returns.
• Strong understanding of Graduated Rate Estates (GREs).
• Proficiency with Taxprep software.
• Advanced tax research, analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
