Senior General Accountant

About the role

Asahi Kasei Battery Separator Canada is building a new lithium‑battery separator plant in Port Colborne. The Senior General Accountant will join the finance team to manage month‑end close, capital project accounting, fixed‑asset tracking and support for government grant reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Manage capital expenditure accounting, including project cost reviews, capitalization assessments and asset‑in‑service transfers.
• Maintain the fixed‑asset subledger, ensuring accurate additions, disposals, depreciation calculations and record‑keeping.
• Track and reconcile construction‑in‑progress projects, coordinating with Project Managers for timely capitalization and close‑out.
• Prepare monthly financial statements, supporting schedules, variance analysis and bank reconciliations.
• Support accounting, reporting and compliance for government grants, tax incentives and other funding programs.

Required profile

• Post‑secondary education in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration.
• Minimum 5 years of general accounting experience, including AP/AR, GL, month‑end close and account reconciliations.
• Strong knowledge of Canadian GAAP and ASPE, with experience in capital project accounting and fixed‑asset management.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, data analysis).
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook.
• Experience with an ERP or general‑ledger accounting system.

What we offer

• Salary range $90,000 – $100,000 CAD, based on experience.
