Senior Financial Specialist (SRP)

About the role

The Senior Financial Specialist (SRP) provides senior clerical and financial support to large and complex units within the Vice‑President Research & Innovation portfolio at UBC. The role focuses on Shared Research Platforms while also assisting other VPRI units, ensuring accurate financial processing and reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Orchestrate day‑to‑day financial processing for SRP units, including requisitions, payments, invoice handling, and purchase order creation.
• Prepare and analyse financial reports, statements of operations, quarterly and ad‑hoc reports using Workday, spreadsheets and other tools.
• Support budget cycles and forecasts, perform data entry in Adaptive Planning, and reconcile complex transactions.
• Maintain supplier records, resolve ledger and billing issues, and provide guidance on UBC financial policies.
• Assist with month‑end, quarter‑end, year‑end procedures, audits, and internal/external audit requests.

Required profile

• High school graduation plus a Diploma in Accounting and at least four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Ability to exercise judgement on complex, non‑routine financial issues.
