Senior Engineer – API & Database Performance

About the role

VantageAnalytics is seeking a Senior Engineer to lead the design and delivery of robust APIs and partner integrations. You will work with large datasets, ensure high‑performance services, and mentor the engineering team on best practices.

Key responsibilities

• Own application and database performance, reviewing pull requests for query cost, indexing, and data access patterns.
• Design, build, and maintain external API connectors, handling authentication, rate limiting, and retries.
• Develop backend features and services in Python/Django with low latency and high reliability.
• Diagnose production issues, lead debugging sessions, and improve observability using logs, metrics, and traces.
• Proactively identify performance risks, create mitigation plans, and coach the team on preventive practices.
• Maintain automated test coverage and clear documentation to support fast, safe delivery.
• Mentor engineers through pairing, design reviews, and actionable feedback.
• Contribute to architectural discussions to ensure scalable, effective solutions.

Required profile

• 6+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong track record in mentoring and knowledge sharing.
• Experience as a gatekeeper for database performance in code reviews and debugging.
• Hands‑on experience with B2B API integrations.
