Senior Development Accountant – Real Estate

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Development Accountant to join a leading real‑estate organization in downtown Toronto. The role focuses on development and construction accounting, handling draw processes, cost analysis, and collaboration with joint‑venture partners. This position offers a blend of strategic financial oversight and hands‑on project accounting.

Key responsibilities

• Execute month‑end and quarter‑end close for development projects, including journal entries and accruals.
• Maintain and reconcile project‑level general ledger balances and working paper files.
• Prepare draft journal entries for development transactions and PUD‑to‑IPP transfers.
• Partner with joint‑venture partners to deliver accurate consolidated financial results.
• Collaborate with internal teams to stay informed on project status and support cash‑call preparation.
• Assist in internal control policy maintenance and process‑improvement initiatives.
• Compile documentation for quarterly audits and perform ad‑hoc analyses as needed.

Required profile

• CPA designation or actively pursuing certification.
• 2‑3 years of accounting and reporting experience, preferably in commercial or mixed‑use real‑estate development.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize in a fast‑paced environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

Required skills

• Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word.
• Financial systems experience (JDE, Spreadsheet Server, BI tools).
• Power BI proficiency (asset).
