Senior Cost Controller

About the role

ACCIONA, a global infrastructure company active in Canada since 2001, is hiring a Senior Cost Controller in Ontario. The role covers the budgeting, cost reporting and analysis of a section of a project, giving project leadership reliable cost visibility through detailed forecasting, variance analysis and change-management cost tracking.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain project cost control systems, including Cost Breakdown Structures (CBS) aligned with the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)
• Prepare monthly cost forecasts and track actual expenditures (labor, materials, equipment, subcontracts) against the project baseline
• Produce detailed monthly cost reports explaining variances and maintain project dashboards using EVM metrics (CPI, SPI)
• Evaluate the financial impact of change orders and scope variations, and integrate them into the Estimate at Completion (EAC)
• Identify financial risks and opportunities with project managers and teams, and liaise with design, engineering, procurement, subcontracting and commercial teams
• Lead and mentor reporting cost controllers, administrators and other team members
• Act as administrator and subject matter expert for the Project Cost Management System (PCMS), keeping the CBS and database integrity, and train the team on data entry and interpretation
• Partner with revenue and billing teams to reconcile costs with client invoices and support progress billings
• Build and maintain project databases and connect data from ERP systems (SAP/Oracle), Primavera P6, procurement logs and timesheet systems

Required profile

• BA in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a related field; progression toward CPA is an asset
• Five years of proven experience as a Cost Analyst, Financial Analyst or in a similar role
• Experience in project management or construction is a plus
• Strong analytical and numerical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and in a team
• Knowledge of financial regulations and compliance, and strong ethical standards in financial reporting

Required skills

• Advanced Excel and proficiency in financial software
• Ability to prioritize under tight deadlines and handle a high workload

• Annual base salary of $100,000-$140,000 CAD, depending on experience, qualifications and internal equity
