Project Accountant

About the role

ACCIONA, a global company delivering regenerative infrastructure across Canada, is hiring a Project Accountant for its Finance and Commercial team. The role covers full-cycle project accounting, including payables, receivables, tax filings, accruals and month-end and year-end close, and prepares monthly financial reports while monitoring costs, revenues and cash flow.

Key responsibilities

• Manage accounts receivable, accounts payable, holdback accounts, HST filings, accruals and related tasks, and assist with month-end and year-end closing.
• Prepare and maintain accurate monthly financial reports.
• Monitor project costs, expenses and revenues against budgetary constraints.
• Review and reconcile project accounts, including payables, receivables and general ledger accounts.
• Work with project managers to track progress and spot cost overruns or savings.
• Carry out regular financial audits and reviews, and provide variance analysis, cost-benefit analysis and cash flow projections to project teams.
• Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors and regulators, and stay up to date on accounting regulations.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related field.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation required.
• 5+ years of proven accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.

Required skills

• Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, SAP or Oracle.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong communication skills.
