Senior Accountant

About the role

Our client, a large resource company, is looking for a Senior Accountant to join its Vancouver finance team. Reporting to the Director of Financial Reporting, you will work closely with corporate and operational stakeholders in a fast‑paced environment, supporting monthly, quarterly and annual reporting while driving process improvements.

Key responsibilities

• Review monthly financial reporting packages for IFRS compliance.
• Analyze results and variances to support business decisions.
• Assist operational finance teams with accounting questions and technical issues.
• Support month‑end close, consolidation, journal entry preparation and schedule review.
• Participate in the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements and disclosures.
• Research complex accounting matters and prepare position papers.
• Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures and documentation.
• Lead continuous‑improvement initiatives related to reporting, systems and automation.
• Partner with internal and external auditors, providing analyses and responses.
• Ensure SOX‑regulated internal controls are followed and contribute to special projects.

Required profile

• CPA designation.
• 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in public practice or a multi‑entity public company.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and public‑company financial reporting.
• Experience with financial analysis, consolidations and internal controls.
• Advanced Excel proficiency; experience with large ERP systems is a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Detail‑oriented, proactive and able to manage multiple priorities.
