Senior Accountant – Hybrid (Toronto)

About the role

The Bank’s Chief Accountant Department seeks a Senior Accountant to provide technical accounting advisory services for the US Retail segment and bank‑wide Expected Credit Loss (ECL) matters. This hybrid contract position supports the preparation of consolidated shareholder reports and regulatory filings under IFRS.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the primary APA contact for US Retail segment and ECL issues.
• Serve as subject‑matter expert on ECL, revenue, operating segments and related accounting topics.
• Deliver timely, accurate IFRS‑based technical accounting advice to business units.
• Translate complex accounting concepts into clear guidance for stakeholders.
• Conduct technical accounting research, benchmarking, and prepare memos and presentation materials.
• Assist in preparing external consolidated shareholder reports (MD&A, financial statements, notes, supplemental information).
• Stay current with new IFRS pronouncements and provide periodic updates.
• Maintain strong relationships with internal partners (Finance, Tax, Risk, Investor Relations) and external parties (auditors, advisors).

Required profile

• Senior‑level accounting experience, preferably within a banking environment.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and regulatory reporting requirements (OSC, SEC).
• Demonstrated expertise in Expected Credit Loss (ECL) accounting and US Retail segment issues.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills to convey technical topics.
