About the role
The Liu‑Ambrose Laboratory at the University of British Columbia seeks a Research Assistant / Technician 2 to support the Aging, Mobility, and Cognitive Health (AMC) program. Working under the direct supervision of Dr. Teresa Liu‑Ambrose, you will contribute to research on healthy aging, including participant recruitment, data collection, and MRI data processing.
Key responsibilities
- Recruit and schedule older participants, including home visits for those with mobility or cognitive impairments.
- Manage and process MRI scans from the CLSA Healthy Brains, Healthy Aging study, following established pipelines and performing quality control.
- Create and maintain databases, ensure accurate data entry, and conduct data checks in line with study protocols.
- Assist the Research Coordinator in launching new studies: develop SOPs, data capture forms, training manuals, and refine protocols.
- Provide daily administrative support, including scheduling, interview coordination, and documentation.
Required profile
- Post‑secondary education or relevant experience in health sciences, kinesiology, or a related field.
- Experience working with older adult populations, especially those with co‑morbidities.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to follow detailed procedures.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Required skills
- MRI data processing and quality control.
- Database creation and data management.
- Participant recruitment and scheduling.
- Development of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and training materials.
