Registered Nurse – Youth Stabilization Unit (Part‑time)

About the role
We are seeking a compassionate Registered Nurse to join a secure, short‑term stabilization unit for youth in Winnipeg. The role involves providing comprehensive medical assessment, care, and support to young people dealing with mental health and addiction challenges. You will work closely with the Program Coordinator and multidisciplinary team to ensure safe transitions in and out of the unit.
Key responsibilities
- Facilitate admission and discharge processes for youth.
- Conduct physical and mental health assessments, develop action plans, and coordinate referrals.
- Create and implement treatment plans in collaboration with youth, families, and team members.
- Monitor health status throughout the stay and provide medical treatments as directed by physicians, including medication administration and wound care.
- Deliver education on addiction, health promotion, and related topics to youth, families, and staff.
- Maintain accurate charts and health records.
- Assist with day‑to‑day unit operations as needed.
Required profile
- Current RN, BN, or RPN licence in Manitoba, preferably with mental health or addictions experience.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent physical and mental health, capable of working various shifts.
- Clear criminal record, child abuse registry check, and acceptable prior contact checks.
Required skills
- Emergency First Aid/CPR Level C certification.
- ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) certificate.
- NCVI certification.
- Mental Health First Aid certification.
- Safe Talk certification.
