Registered Nurse – Permanent Part‑Time

About the role

The Registered Nurse will join an inter‑professional health‑care team at Manitoulin Health Centre, delivering comprehensive nursing care to medical, surgical, obstetrical and emergency patients. This permanent part‑time position also includes scheduled Charge Nurse responsibilities, ensuring high‑quality patient outcomes and team coordination.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care across medical, surgical, obstetrical and emergency settings.
• Supervise and act as Charge Nurse according to the schedule.
• Manage admission and discharge processes, medication administration, and airway, breathing, circulatory, neurological, GI/GU, EENT, wound‑care, and musculoskeletal care.
• Perform specimen collection, patient transfers, and death management with compassion and professionalism.
• Apply infection‑control protocols and operate safety and emergency equipment.
• Document care using Meditech and other electronic systems; complete administrative and Nurse‑in‑Charge duties.

Required profile

• Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Minimum two years of hospital experience, including cardiac, emergency and acute care.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification or willingness to obtain within two months.
• Completed CTAS course and OBS training, or willingness to obtain.
• Current ACLS and NRP certifications.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Meditech applications.
• Experience in a Charge Nurse role and reliable attendance.
• Ability to remain calm in emergencies, strong interpersonal skills, self‑directed and flexible.
