Registered Nurse – Family Birthing Centre

About the role

The Family Birthing Centre Registered Nurse provides safe, compassionate care in both labour & delivery and postpartum units. Working within an interprofessional team, the RN promotes wellness, ensures ethical nursing practice, and continuously advances clinical expertise.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver holistic, evidence‑based, culturally appropriate patient‑centred care in accordance with College of Nurses of Ontario standards.
• Assess patient needs, develop and adjust care plans, and coordinate with the care team.
• Provide health education to patients and families using effective teaching strategies.
• Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately.
• Facilitate discharge planning and referrals to community services.
• Serve as a primary resource for organizing and coordinating patient care activities.
• Participate in hospital committees, mentorship, and professional development initiatives.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse licensure in Ontario.
• Ability to work proficiently in both labour & delivery and postpartum settings.
• Commitment to continuous learning, reflective practice, and evidence‑based care.
• Strong collaborative and communication skills for inter‑professional teamwork.
