Quality Technologist – Afternoon Shift

About the role
The Quality Technologist works the afternoon shift in Mississauga, reporting to the Senior Quality Control Specialist – Laboratory. The role supports QC testing, product release, and monitoring to ensure safe, high‑quality food ingredients and finished products.
Key responsibilities
- Test and release manufactured products according to specifications and generate Certificates of Analysis (COAs).
- Test and release incoming bulk materials (vegetable oils, lecithin, mineral oil, sweeteners) and assign lot numbers and COAs.
- Update product release status and record testing results in the ERP system.
- Conduct sampling and testing of raw materials.
- Develop, update, and validate analytical testing SOPs for products and raw materials.
- Assist investigations of internal non‑conformances and customer complaints.
- Determine disposition of on‑hold materials, support product rework and shelf‑life extension initiatives.
- Provide COAs to the shipping department to meet customer delivery requirements.
- Evaluate new and alternate ingredients and validate supplier specifications.
- Support shop‑floor QA monitoring, sanitation programs, production records, and pest control.
- Assist implementation of HACCP and GMP programs and procedures.
- Support GLP activities for equipment calibration, record keeping, and lab supplies.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well‑stocked laboratory environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned and comply with company policies.
Required profile
- Science degree or diploma (Food Science is an asset).
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a food manufacturing or quality laboratory environment.
- Working experience with HACCP programs and Food Plant GMPs.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem‑solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results on time.
- High attention to detail and proficient computer skills.
- Self‑motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Required skills
- Operation of HPLC instruments.
- Operation of ICP instruments.
- Use of ERP systems for data entry and product release tracking.
- Analytical instrumentation and testing methodology.
What we offer
- Competitive salary ranging from $45,000 to $55,000 CAD per year.
- Afternoon shift, full‑time position.
- Opportunity to work within a collaborative QC team in Mississauga.
