Quality Technologist – Afternoon Shift

About the role

The Quality Technologist works the afternoon shift in Mississauga, reporting to the Senior Quality Control Specialist – Laboratory. The role supports QC testing, product release, and monitoring to ensure safe, high‑quality food ingredients and finished products.

Key responsibilities

• Test and release manufactured products according to specifications and generate Certificates of Analysis (COAs).
• Test and release incoming bulk materials (vegetable oils, lecithin, mineral oil, sweeteners) and assign lot numbers and COAs.
• Update product release status and record testing results in the ERP system.
• Conduct sampling and testing of raw materials.
• Develop, update, and validate analytical testing SOPs for products and raw materials.
• Assist investigations of internal non‑conformances and customer complaints.
• Determine disposition of on‑hold materials, support product rework and shelf‑life extension initiatives.
• Provide COAs to the shipping department to meet customer delivery requirements.
• Evaluate new and alternate ingredients and validate supplier specifications.
• Support shop‑floor QA monitoring, sanitation programs, production records, and pest control.
• Assist implementation of HACCP and GMP programs and procedures.
• Support GLP activities for equipment calibration, record keeping, and lab supplies.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and well‑stocked laboratory environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned and comply with company policies.

Required profile

• Science degree or diploma (Food Science is an asset).
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a food manufacturing or quality laboratory environment.
• Working experience with HACCP programs and Food Plant GMPs.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results on time.
• High attention to detail and proficient computer skills.
• Self‑motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Required skills

• Operation of HPLC instruments.
• Operation of ICP instruments.
• Use of ERP systems for data entry and product release tracking.
• Analytical instrumentation and testing methodology.

What we offer

• Competitive salary ranging from $45,000 to $55,000 CAD per year.
