Project Manager - Integrity Dig Programs

About the role

Arnett & Burgess Energy Services (A&B) is adding a Project Manager (Integrity Dig Programs) to its team, based in the Blackfalds, Alberta office. Reporting to the Senior Director of Operations, the role leads a portfolio of pipeline integrity dig programs from pursuit through closeout, covering many projects at different stages and across several clients. It works under master service agreements on an hourly or target-price basis, partnering with Superintendents who lead site execution while the Project Manager owns the commercial and contractual side.

The position is office-based with occasional travel (10% to 20%) to field sites and client facilities, and periods of higher intensity during peak construction season. Contractors and employees are both considered.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a high volume of concurrent integrity dig projects across pursuit, initiation, execution and closeout, accountable for safety, cost, schedule and quality.
• Prepare, price and track live estimates and bids, partnering with Superintendents on crew configuration, production rates and constructability.
• Serve as the primary commercial contact for clients on scopes, change orders, formal reporting and escalations.
• Lead the Project Controllers and Project Administration staff, set reporting cadence and standards, and vet all output.
• Own client-facing reporting, validating field-generated cost, quantity and progress data.
• Own change management and subcontract administration, negotiating change orders to a commercial conclusion.
• Own the schedule and cost baseline, leading recovery planning when a dig runs into trouble.
• Maintain a value-add log and drive financial closeout, including final billing, client sign-off and warranty.
• Uphold the zero safety commitment and verify HSE and quality obligations in the field.

Required profile

• 10 years of progressive experience in pipeline and facility construction, managing projects as the accountable lead.
• Ability to manage several concurrent projects at different stages.
• Experience leading and developing direct reports in project controls, coordination or administration.
• Effective working relationship with Superintendents and field crews through bidding and execution.
• Knowledge of pipeline and facility scopes across mechanical, civil, CP/AC mitigation, electrical and instrumentation.
• Hands-on experience with pipeline construction agreements, change order negotiation and subcontract administration.
• Valid driver's licence; legal authorization to work in Canada with no restrictions.

Required skills

• Project controls: budgeting, forecasting, scheduling and progress reporting.
• Estimating and bid development support.
• Preferred: post-secondary education in engineering, construction management, business or a related discipline; P.Eng. designation and/or PMP certification; familiarity with earned value management and project governance frameworks; experience with MSA work for major midstream or transmission operators.
