Project Manager I – Engineering Infrastructure Projects

About the role

The City of Vancouver is seeking a Project Manager I to join its Project Delivery team. You will help lead complex civil infrastructure projects such as pump stations, working closely with design, operations and external partners to ensure successful delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Senior Project Manager on cross‑discipline design and construction initiatives.
• Develop detailed project plans, including scope, budget, schedule, risks and organization, and document them in a Project Charter.
• Prepare terms of reference for civil engineering consulting services, manage tendering and selection processes, or coordinate internal design delivery.
• Facilitate inter‑departmental reviews of design drawings and standards, escalating conflicts as needed.
• Execute projects according to approved charters, ensuring all relevant City departments are consulted.
• Assist in managing multiple consultants, contractors and permit applications at local, provincial and federal levels.
• Monitor, forecast and report on cash flows, scheduling and overall project status.

Required profile

• Post‑secondary education in civil engineering or a related field.
• Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams of engineers, superintendents and technical staff.
• Strong organizational skills with experience coordinating complex projects in a matrix environment.
• Knowledge of municipal permitting processes and public‑sector procurement.
