Program Manager – Academic Programs

About the role

The Department of Philosophy at UBC seeks a Program Manager to lead the delivery of its graduate and undergraduate academic programs. Reporting to the Department Head, the role supports students, faculty, and staff across admissions, advising, curriculum planning, and post‑doctoral administration.

Key responsibilities

• Manage admissions processes and student advising for both graduate and undergraduate programs.
• Coordinate curriculum development, course scheduling, and allocation of teaching assistantships.
• Oversee awards, funding, and other student appointments, ensuring compliance with university policies.
• Lead student engagement initiatives and post‑doctoral administration.
• Supervise the Graduate and Undergraduate Program Assistants, set priorities, provide training, and conduct performance reviews.
• Collaborate with faculty and campus partners to improve program efficiency and service delivery.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in academic program administration within a university setting.
• Strong knowledge of university policies, student affairs, and curriculum management.
• Excellent judgment, discretion, and ability to resolve complex student matters.
• Proven ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and lead a small team.
