Senior Program Assistant – Academic Programs

About the role

The University of British Columbia’s English Language Institute is seeking a Senior Program Assistant to provide comprehensive administrative and student support for its academic programs. Based in the Continuing Studies Building on the Point Grey campus, this full‑time, on‑site position plays a pivotal role in ensuring smooth delivery of program activities.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and prioritize academic administrative tasks across multiple English language programs.
• Serve as primary point of contact for students, instructors, and internal/external stakeholders, delivering timely information and assistance.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate socio‑cultural initiatives that complement the curriculum, managing budgets and approving expenses.
• Supervise and train Cultural Assistants, providing orientation and safety briefings.
• Monitor program effectiveness using data and participant feedback to inform continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in academic program administration or similar support roles.
• Strong organizational, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and manage multiple priorities.
• Experience supervising staff or volunteers is an asset.
