Auxiliary Multispecies Archaeology Research Technician

About the role

The Department of Anthropology at UBC is seeking an Auxiliary Multispecies Archaeology Research Technician to support the Multispecies Archaeology Laboratory. Working under the direction of Dr. Aleksa Alaica, you will perform routine research tasks and assist with coordinating studies.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in organizing, preparing, and running experiments, including photocopying and preparing forms.
• Contact and schedule appointments with research group members, volunteers, honours students, and visiting researchers.
• Run participants through standard operating procedures, record test data, and follow lab protocols.
• Maintain supplies, acquire data, and ensure respectful treatment of results and participants.

Required profile

• High school graduation plus at least one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Willingness to respect diverse perspectives and a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
• Preferred: Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline (preferably Anthropology) and experience in a research coordinator role.
• Ability to learn quickly, multitask, and work accurately in a fast‑paced research environment.
