Vice President, Students

About the role

The University of British Columbia is seeking a Vice President, Students to lead student housing, health, athletics, recreation and career development across both campuses. Reporting to the President and Vice‑Chancellor, the role starts in Spring/Summer 2027 and is a key member of the President’s Executive Team.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for nine student‑facing teams, ensuring a unified, student‑centred service approach.
• Develop and implement university‑wide policies, operational plans and budgetary frameworks for student services.
• Oversee student housing for over 16,000 residents, health and wellbeing programs, athletics, recreation and career development initiatives.
• Drive collaboration across campuses and foster an environment where students thrive academically, personally and professionally.

Required profile

• Proven executive leadership experience in a large, research‑intensive university or comparable institution.
• Track record of managing complex, multi‑campus student portfolios and developing strategic initiatives.
• Strong financial acumen with responsibility for large budgets and fiscal accountability.
• Undergraduate degree required; graduate degree preferred.
• Resilient, passionate, supportive and outcomes‑oriented mindset.
