Early Childhood Pedagogical Consultant

About the role

The Early Childhood Pedagogical Consultant will join a dedicated team supporting children with developmental disabilities. Working in a day‑care centre or nursery school environment, you will design and deliver tailored learning experiences that foster physical, cognitive, emotional and social growth.

Key responsibilities

• Assess each child's development and create individualized learning plans.
• Develop and implement child‑care programs that promote holistic development.
• Lead storytelling, song, and activity sessions, including outings to local points of interest.
• Encourage creative expression through art, dramatic play, music and movement.
• Observe for early signs of learning or behavioural challenges and prepare detailed reports for families and supervisors.
• Collaborate with co‑workers and community service providers to support each child’s needs.
• Maintain a safe, healthy environment that protects children’s well‑being.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, teaching or child development.
• 3 to 5 years of experience working with children, preferably in a setting that serves children with intellectual disabilities.
• Ability to conduct criminal record and vulnerable sector checks.
• Physical capability to bend, crouch and kneel as required.

Required skills

• Experience assessing child development and creating individualized plans.
• Knowledge of strategies for children with intellectual disabilities.
• Strong observational and reporting abilities.
• Effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
