Principal Geotechnical Engineer – Tailings Engineer of Record

About the role

BGC Engineering is seeking a North‑America based Geotechnical or Geological Engineer with deep experience in tailings dam design and construction. The successful candidate will act as the Engineer of Record for a Tailings Storage Facility and lead a multi‑disciplinary team through design, construction, operation and closure phases.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the engineering team to design, construct, operate and close a Tailings Storage Facility (TSF) while ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Serve as the Engineer of Record, providing technical oversight, documentation and sign‑off for all TSF engineering deliverables.

Required profile

• Undergraduate degree in Civil or Geological Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng) registration in North America.
• 15+ years of experience in tailings management, dam design, or mining geotechnique.
• Current knowledge of GISTM and other relevant regulations and standards.
• Valid passport and willingness to travel for project work and networking.
