Maintenance Technician

About the role

Bureau Veritas Canada is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support the upkeep of its Vancouver facilities and equipment. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager and Supervisor, you will ensure reliable operation of building systems, perform preventive maintenance, and coordinate calibrations.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and arrange external calibrations for equipment to meet ISO 17025 requirements.
• Perform daily checks and control of deionized water, compressed gas, acid neutralization, and exhaust systems.
• Maintain and replace components such as belts, bearings, sheaves, and pillow blocks on air handling units and exhaust fans.
• Service building environmental systems, including air scrubbing, dust collection, and make‑up air units.
• Maintain pneumatic, hydraulic, and belt‑driven equipment, as well as BMS ventilation and temperature controls.
• Update the CMMS with accurate maintenance data according to SOPs.

Required profile

• Ability to regularly lift loads up to 40 lb and work at heights above 30 ft with fall protection.
• Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
• Organizational and time‑management abilities to handle multiple maintenance tasks.
• High trades aptitude; prior trades experience is an asset.

Required skills

• Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
• Proficiency using hand tools and performing measurements accurate to 0.01 mm for shaft and bearing alignment.
• Mechanical and building repair experience (2+ years preferred).
• Knowledge of instrumentation, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
